Chapter 6: Substructure

• Section 6.1 The guidance for basements has been updated to include an exception to the minimum Grade 2 requirement , that certain underground car parking areas may be acceptable to a Grade 1 standard; subject to following the guidance in this section

 Chapter 7: Superstructure

• Section 7.4 Windows and doors; further clarification of the requirements for workmanship and weather tightness are made in this section, this includes a requirement for weather tightness of bespoke and handmade window and doors
• Amended requirements also made to the ‘security’ requirements of doors and windows to be in line with changes to Building Regulations
• Guidance on Nickel Sulphide inclusions in glazing now included
• Sub section 7.7.1, Render; the guidance is substantially updated in line with current practices and standards
• Sub section 7.7.2 Curtain walling: The guidance is substantially updated in line with current practices and standards
• Subsection 7.7.3 Insulated render systems; additional guidance is provided
• New subsection 7.7.5 Rain screen cladding systems added

Chapter 12: Conversion and refurbishment

• A new section 12.3 is added to provide guidance on conversions that are classed as ‘Historic’ buildings

Chapter 13: Developments within Coastal Locations

• This is a new chapter to the Technical Manual to provide guidance on the risks that aggressive environmental conditions have on developments
